It's not possible to register domains such as mySite.nz or example.nz since the .nz domain name space consists of a number of second level domains (2LDs). There are currently 8 unmoderated 2LDs which are open for anyone to register with and 5 moderated 2LDs which have special policies regarding their registrations.

Unmoderated 2LDs

.ac.nz For tertiary educational institutions and related organisations.
.co.nz Intended for organisations pursuing commercial aims, but widely used for a variety of purposes as New Zealand's premium 2LD.
.geek.nz For people who are concentrative, technically skilled and imaginative, and who are generally adept with computers.
.gen.nz For individuals and other organisations in general.
.maori.nz For Māori people, groups, and organisations.
.net.nz For organisations and service providers directly related to the internet in New Zealand.
.org.nz For not-for-profit organisations.
.school.nz For primary, secondary and pre-schools and related organisations.

Moderated 2LDs

.cri.nz For bona fide Crown Research Institutes. Applications must be made by authorised staff.
.govt.nz For national, regional and local government organisations operating with statutory powers. These names are only be available to bona fide government bodies and need to be registered by their authorised staff.

.iwi.nz For traditional Māori tribes, Hāpūs that belong to a traditional Māori Iwi or taura here Iwi groups operating with the permission of the main Iwi.
.parliament.nz For parliamentary agencies, offices of parliament and parliamentary political parties and their elected members.
.mil.nz For military organisations of the New Zealand Government.
